This workshop will provide participants with resources to help plan for Lent, Holy Week, and Easter. It will showcase new music as well as established staples to assist our members with planning for the spring.
Drawing on the expertise of Central Hudson Valley Chapter members, this workshop will be led by a team of volunteer presenters who will demonstrate a range of organ and choral music that might be incorporated into your repertoire, as well as guidance for how to prepare and rehearse new music. Music selections will focus on Lent, Holy Week, and Easter, and will demonstrate a diverse range of composers, repertoire styles, and difficulty levels. The intent is that you can walk away from this workshop with a range of music selections that you can incorporate into your upcoming music calendar and feel confident and invigorated to prepare new and exciting music.
This workshop will be divided into 2 Parts:
1. Organ Music - 3 presentations (~12-15 music selections)
Break: time for participants to use restroom, have coffee and baked goods, and/or try out a piece of music on the organ
2. Choral Music - Choral warmups and 3 presentations (12 music selections)
Participants are encouraged to bring music if they would like to play on the Schantz Opus 1331 in Redeemer Lutheran.
Each participant will also have the opportunity to go home with a FREE piece of music demonstrated during the workshop.
Note: Coffee and light breakfast fare will be provided during the workshop. Following the workshop’s completion, additional opportunity for fellowship will occur at one of the local establishments in Kingston, NY.
This event is open to members and non-members alike.
